FOLGER SHAKESPEARE FESTIVALS

Published by Amanda under Uncategorized

We had a fabulous experience at the March 09 Folger Shakespeare Secondary School Festival,  with Dominion Christian School, Oakton, Virginia.  DCS had a wonderful cast, with period music and dance, in a hilarious staging of  ” A Midsummer Night’s Dream”   with Nobles, Mechanicals, and other Maniacs.  The group took lots of awards, including Best Ensemble, Best Comic Performance, Best Music, and Best (and only!) folk dance. Congratulations to the Dominion community; for fantastic faculty support (Mrs. Whittle, Mrs. Burns) and parent contributions to rehearsal help, costuming and feting of the ensemble so generously.

Afterschool Workshops

Published by Amanda under Workshops

Dear Friends of Classical  Education;

We are so pleased to be able to offer a new classically-based after-school program in the Performing Arts for Christian school community. Theatre Arts and Performing Arts training furnish a young person with an enormous opportunity for growth in confidence, collaborative learning, personal development and skill in interpreting a wide range of literatures. Dramatic Arts have an important place in the classical curriculum affording an additional avenue for giftedness to be discovered and nurtured in the individual child.

Classical Academy for Performing Arts will offer a practical and fun curriculum of age-appropriate theatre games and exercises, training in voice, movement, characterization and performance opportunities, with a distinctively Christian and decidedly classical sensibility.
